Vice City is back — and this time it's the beating heart of the state of Leonida. Here's what Rockstar has actually confirmed about its reimagined Miami, and what's still open.

Vice City returns

  • It's confirmed as the central metropolis of Leonida, Grand Theft Auto VI's take on modern Florida.
  • Vice City is the series' Miami analogue, last the main setting in 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — now rebuilt for a modern, high-fidelity era.

What the reveal shows

  • A dense, neon-soaked skyline across the water, ringed by beaches, islands, causeways and canals — the shot below captures the sheer scale.
  • Sun, nightlife and crime, with the sharp visual jump from trailers to real gameplay confirmed by the Extended Look.

Vice City is the hub, not the whole map

Leonida reaches well beyond the city — into keys, wetlands and rural stretches. Vice City is the centrepiece, but there's a whole state around it. See our Leonida map guide.

Still unconfirmed

  • The city's exact districts and neighbourhoods — fan names taken from trailers and leaks are not official.
  • The full map size, and named landmarks.

We only add districts and locations here once Rockstar shows or confirms them.

Verified city-life additions

Vice City is reported as denser than prior GTA cities, with narrower roads that reward more deliberate driving. The wider setting includes beaches, wetlands, wildlife, water activities, a zoo and a broad social scene rooted in Miami music, fashion and nightlife research.

The city’s NPC population is handcrafted rather than procedurally generated. Rockstar says it created new tools and pipelines for crowd variety, and artists reviewed individual NPC hairstyles and outfits.
