GTA VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here's what's confirmed about how it runs on each — and what's still unknown, including what "PS5 Pro Enhanced" will actually mean.
The short version
- Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PS4 or Xbox One version, and no PC version announced.
- Frame rate: the official gameplay and creator previews ran at 30fps. No 60fps mode has been announced.
- PS5 Pro: PlayStation lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, but the improvements haven't been detailed.
- Xbox Series S: Rockstar hasn't published any Series S-specific details.
Frame rate: 30fps so far
Rockstar's Extended Look gameplay (August 27, 2026) was captured on PS5 at 30fps. Creators at the Rockstar North previews played on a standard PS5 at 4K, 30fps, and Rockstar North's Rob Nelson reportedly told attendees that current console builds run at 30fps. Preview players said the game still felt smooth and cinematic. Read more in our Extended Look mechanics guide and ElRubius's hands-on.
Whether a 40fps or 60fps option arrives at launch or later is unconfirmed — don't trust sites claiming otherwise until Rockstar says so.
PS5 Pro Enhanced
PlayStation's official game page carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. That tag means Rockstar has done specific work for the Pro, but neither Rockstar nor Sony has said what it is — higher resolution, better image quality, steadier performance or a different mode are all possibilities, and none is confirmed.
PS5 features
PlayStation's page lists these PS5 features for GTA VI:
- DualSense haptic feedback that reacts to your choices and the environment across Leonida
- Adaptive triggers with dynamic resistance throughout the game
- The controller's built-in speaker for featured moments
- Tempest 3D Audio for accurate positional sound
- Near-instant loading from the PS5's SSD
Xbox Series X|S
GTA VI is confirmed for both Series X and Series S. Rockstar hasn't detailed resolution or performance differences between them. One practical difference from PlayStation: Rockstar says Xbox codes aren't region-locked.
Storage
On both consoles the game has to be on the internal SSD or an approved expansion drive to play; USB drives can only store it. The download size hasn't been announced — see the launch-day guide.
What about PC?
Not announced. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both came to PC later, but that's history, not a promise. GTA 6 PC release guide.
We'll update this page with confirmed modes and settings as soon as Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft publish them — and with real-world impressions from launch day.
